Pastoral Care

A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.

Ministers and Deacons Caring for the Needs of the Church

The Pastoral Care team of Bethel’s Family provides physical, emotional and spiritual support to our church family as well as our community with biblical encouragement and prayer support.

Our desire is to show the love of Christ in the way we care for others. We realize there are various stages of life and circumstances that alter an individual’s health and well-being, so we strive to offer a support system that will meet the needs of our church family. Our goal is to promote good health and well-being of the spirit, soul and body.

If you have a need, please call or visit our church office, and the Pastoral Care team will establish an initial connection. We offer a listening ear and prayer, followed by resources that will educate and provide you with support for special life circumstances.

Minister Availability

A Bethel’s Family minister or deacon will be on call and available to you 24 hours a day, seven days a week, including holidays, should you need help. The member in crisis can contact the minister on call at (281) 635-4297. We do ask that you use discernment when placing calls at night, however we are available for urgent needs, such as emergency hospitalization or the death of a loved one. In all cases, if you feel someone is in danger or physically ill, please call 911.

Hospital Visitation

Forget-Me-Not Ministry keeps a record of members admitted to area hospitals. Our ministers, deacons and trained volunteers are encouraged to visit those in the hospital when it is appropriate, per the family’s request.

Watch Care/Senior Care

The Pastoral Care team has initiated the Watch Care/Senior Care Connection. Members who are homebound, residing in area assisted living facilities and nursing homes will be visited by our team upon request. Our team will provide private prayer and communion for those who are unable to attend church services on Sunday. If you know someone who desires a visit from our Pastoral Care team, please leave a message at the church office at (713) 729-0125 ext. 321.

Funeral Planning

The Pastoral Care team offers funeral planning resources for families who desire help planning the funeral services of a loved one. If a funeral or memorial service is desired at Bethel’s Family, it will be necessary for the bereaved family to contact the church office to discuss availability, feasibility and schedule, as well as to coordinate participants in the service (i.e., officiating pastor, musicians, communication staff and facilities). If a guest pastor is requested to officiate a service at Bethel’s Family, that pastor must be approved by our Senior Pastor, and one of the Bethel’s Family pastors will co-officiate the service. The church office will discuss the options for space availability based on the church calendar of events. If additional assistance is needed, feel free to discuss this with the Pastoral Care team member.
